We Hear you! We’ve been listening to those closest to the need about what they want in a player.

Here is what we’ve learned and some of it surprised us!

“Keep the Ambassador ugly! Well, not exactly ugly... just don’t make it too shiny and attractive. We don’t want anyone killed for it.” Where poverty is so extreme, something that looks like an expensive MP3 player or phone can lead to theft and even violence.

“We need units that appeal to youth!”
Our crew is working with engineers to design a new “urban” look for an Ambassador unit that will appeal to youth. It will be available in the Spring of 2008

“We want the message secure. We don’t want the Bible or other messages overwritten, and the units misused for propaganda or other purposes that don’t match our values.” Our players are only reprogrammable with our proprietary Scribe programmer. The message cannot be erased or changed without this unique tool.

“We want a built-in speaker, plus a speaker jack." In many oral cultures it is not appropriate to listen privately, so many people will gather around to hear the message. Often they express appreciation by affirming what they hear while listening, so sometimes it needs to be even louder.
The MegaVoice Ambassador has a built-in speaker that is loud enough for a whole family to hear the message. With a set of accessory speakers plugged into the speaker jack, a whole village can hear the message!

“It needs to withstand extreme conditions such as the arctic or the jungle.” Read the stories about the units in the Peruvian Amazon or the one with reindeer farmers in the arctic to find out how well the units perform under these conditions.

“Many places don’t have electricity so the solar panel is essential.” Most of our units have a solar recharging battery that even charges by the light of a lamp. For areas where batteries are easily and cheaply accessible, some units have regular batteries.

“We need to be able to reprogram or reload units on the field so that they can be used in different settings or with different messages or curriculum.” The use of the MegaVoice Scribe allows qualifying agencies to carry their own mobile library to program and reprogram units.

“We’re grateful that it is so small as it means so many more can be shipped or carried.” MegaVoice players are less than one-fourth the size of most audio units that have built-in speakers. This makes it possible to transport the units at a much lower cost and keeps the cost of production down as well.

“It should be sealed with no moving parts, otherwise it will be cannibalized and parts used for other purposes.” The MegaVoice case is extremely tough and durable with no moving parts.

We’re still listening! If you think of other features that are important or ways that we can improve our service we want to hear. Contact us with any new suggestions.
